US Special Envoy for Climate, John Kerry at Kew Gardens

Storm were delighted to provide Sound technical services to Kew Gardens for a special climate event hosted by Chatham House. Featuring guest speaker, U.S Special Presidential Envoy for Climate, John Kerry. Ahead of the G20 Environment, Climate and Energy Ministerial Meeting, Mr Kerry delivered a major climate policy speech. During his speech, he delivered remarks on the urgency of global climate action. Mr Kerry said meeting the 1.5C limit will be impossible without China taking action. Adding that the US and China had to work together to tackle the issue.

“It’s not a mystery that the US and China have many differences but on climate cooperation, it is the only way to break free from the world’s current mutual suicide pact”, he warned. Mr Kerry urged all large economies to come forward with new plans to cut emissions before the COP26 UN climate talks in Glasgow this November. ‘While it may be unfolding in slow motion to some,’ he said. ‘This test is as acute and as existential as any previous one. Time is running out.’

The special event featured remarks from Dame Amelia Fawcett, Chair of Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. As well as Dr Robin Niblett CMG, Director and Chief Executive of Chatham House.
